Kompass Diagnostics today announced that it has been named the Winner of the 2026 ADLM Disruptive Technology Award at the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo. The company was also selected as the Audience Favorite, recognizing both the technical innovation and the broad interest from the diagnostics community.
The ADLM Disruptive Technology Award recognizes emerging technologies with the potential to significantly advance the future of laboratory medicine. Kompass Diagnostics was recognized for its novel electrical sensing platform designed to enable laboratory-quality chemistry, immunoassay, and molecular diagnostics in a portable, cost-effective format.
“Receiving this recognition from ADLM is an incredible honor,” said Mingoo Kim, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Kompass Diagnostics. “Throughout the history of diagnostics, every major technological advancement has expanded where healthcare can be delivered - from centralized laboratory automation, to point-of-care testing, to self-testing at home. Conventional sensing technologies such as optical or electrochemical systems achieve higher performance at the cost of complexity. Higher analytical sensitivity and specificity comes with more expensive detection systems and bulkier processing systems to facilitate washing cycles to mitigate matrix interferences. Kompass developed a new electrical sensing system, the Electrical Transduction Assay (ETA) to challenge this tradeoff, to achieve high performance in a much simpler system.
Kompass' first product is a rapid finger-prick hormone testing platform for fertility care, where timely laboratory results are critical for treatment decisions but often require dedicated laboratory infrastructure. Beyond fertility, the company’s platform is designed to support a broad menu of chemistry, immunoassay, and molecular diagnostics on a common sensing architecture.
